Sound familiar?

This is for you if…

You don't need to be strong to start. You need to show up on Saturday. The coaching handles the rest.

Why Atlas

Why Atlas fits
first-time strongmen

Most gyms don't have a single stone. Atlas has the full set, plus a coach who competes.

Real strongman equipment

Atlas stones, logs, axles, yokes, kegs, sleds, tires and an outdoor turf. The same equipment used at real contests.

Coached by a competitor

Patrick competes in strongman and stood on the podium at USS Strongman Nationals. He coaches every event himself, from setup to finish.

Built for beginners

Every implement is scaled. You learn the technique with light weight first, then build up week by week.

Your first month

  1. First class

Warm-up and movement prep, then your first try at the basic events with light weight: carries, sled and a light stone.

  2. Weeks 1–4

You learn the technique for each event: loading, carrying, pressing and pulling. Weights stay manageable while you learn.

  3. Month 2 and beyond

Heavier implements, real progress and, if you want it, a first novice contest to aim for.

Something to train for

Contest days
& your crew

Strongman is more fun with a goal on the calendar and a friend next to you.

Beginner contest days

Every few months, Atlas runs a beginner strongman contest right here at the gym. Friends and family are welcome to come watch. Entering is optional.

Bring a buddy

Sign up with a friend, a brother or a coworker. Learning stones and log is easier when you've got someone you know pushing you.

Your first real contest

If you catch the bug, Patrick can help you pick a novice contest and get you ready for it. No pressure either way.

Patrick Rice, strongman coach at Atlas Strength

Your coach

Patrick Rice

I took 2nd place at USS Strongman Nationals, and I've coached lifters from their first stone to competition day.

In class, every guy gets coached on his own technique and his own weights, so first-timers and guys who already lift train side by side.
