You don't need to be in shape to start. Here is why first-timers feel at home at Atlas.

No experience needed

You learn every movement from the ground up, with weights that fit you. Nothing is assumed.

No one watching

A private gym with no crowds and no mirrors full of strangers. You can learn without feeling judged.

A plan, not guesswork

No random YouTube workouts. You walk in, your coach tells you what to do and why.

Your first month

  1. First visit

We talk about your goals and anything that bothers you, look at how you move and try a few basic movements together.

  2. Weeks 1–4

You learn the basics: squat, hinge, push, pull and carry, all with light weight and coached on every rep.

  3. Month 2 and beyond

The weights go up, the movements make sense and you know what you're doing. Confidence comes fast.

Inside the gym

Start light.
Start right.

Teens, adults and seniors all start the same way: light weight and clean technique, then build from there.

Your coach

Patrick Rice

I keep Atlas Strength small and private on purpose, so beginners never feel lost or judged. I coach every session myself and write every program around the person in front of me.

My focus is teaching people to move well first. Getting that right is what lets you get stronger without getting hurt.

Questions

FAQ

Anything else? Call or text (516) 524-3420.

How much does training cost?

It depends on how often you train and which option you choose. Semi-private training with a friend, the Hybrid Training Program and online coaching all cost less than 1-on-1. I'll go over exact pricing at your meeting, with no pressure and no contracts.

Will other people be in the gym during my session?

Daytime 1-on-1 sessions are private: just you and your coach. Evenings (7 to 9 pm) can have Hybrid Training and open gym members training too.

I'm out of shape. Should I get in shape before I start?

No. Training is how you get in shape. Every exercise is scaled to where you are today, and we build from there.

Will I be pushed too hard?

No. You'll work hard enough to make progress, never so hard you're sore for a week or dreading the next session.

Will lifting make me bulky?

Building noticeable muscle takes years of focused training and eating for it. For most people, strength training means looking leaner and feeling stronger.

What if I don't know how to do any of the exercises?

That's expected. I teach every movement step by step and coach every rep, so you never have to guess.

Do I need any equipment?

No. Just show up in comfortable clothes and sneakers. Everything else is here.

Can you help with nutrition too?

Yes. Nutrition coaching is part of how I work with clients: we build your eating around real food and your schedule, check in regularly and adjust as you go. No crash diets.
